The Brooklyn Nets are interested in Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. There have been reports that the Hawks have been trying to move on from Collins because of his contract and the organization wanting to focus on guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

Collins will make $23.5 million this season and is owed $25.3 million in the 2023-2023 season. Per Charania, the reason that a trade has not happened between the Nets and the Hawks is because of Atlanta being dissatisfied with what Brooklyn is offering.

The Nets want their package to be centered around guard Joe Harris, but it looks like the Hawks are not interested in Harris enough to make the deal happen. Charania expounds on why a deal hasn’t been done between the two teams yet:

“The Hawks have had several teams in the Collins market, such as Utah, Washington, Brooklyn and Dallas, sources said. Atlanta has not shown interest so far in a potential framework that would contain Brooklyn’s Joe Harris, those sources said. Phoenix has a desire for Collins but does not appear inclined to take on the forward, who is in the second season of a five-year, $125 million pact.”

The Nets’ next game is Friday at the Toronto Raptors.
