NBA’s Joe Dumars Explains Why Draymond Green Was Suspended

The Golden State Warriors will be without Draymond Green on Wednesday night as they try to come back from an 0-2 series deficit against the Kings.

Green was ejected from Game 2 in the fourth quarter following an altercation with Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis. Sabonis, who had hit the floor, appeared to wrap his arms around Green’s leg to prevent him from running, and Green responded by appearing to stomp on Sabonis’ chest and then launching himself over Sabonis’ legs.

Sabonis is listed as questionable for Game 3 with a sternum contusion. According to Marc J. Spears, Green requested an X-ray on his ankle following the game.

On Tuesday night, it was announced that Green has been suspended for one game.

In a statement to ESPN, NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars noted that Green has been involved in similar incidents in the past, and the fact that Green “is a repeat offender weighs as heavy as anything.”
