The NBA has opened an investigation into allegations that surfaced on social media of an inappropriate relationship between the Thunder’s Josh Giddey and a minor, a league spokesman confirmed to NBC Sports.
Allegations of Giddey being with a girl said to be a high school junior appeared on social media earlier in the week but the original posts were taken down when they started to garner a lot of attention. There have been few confirmable facts about the situation.
Giddey, 21, and Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault, declined to comment on the situation Friday.
Giddey, in his third NBA season, has started all 15 games and has averaged 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists a night for the Thunder, who at 11-4 are off to a surprisingly fast start. Giddey and the Thunder are set to take the court again Saturday night against the 76ers.
