Murray confirms NBA used photo of his brother on draft night originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Kings selected Keegan Murray No. 4 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, but the controversy wasn’t surrounding whether Sacramento made the right selection.

Instead, it concerned whether the league used the right picture of the 21-year-old. Nonetheless, both Murray brothers confirmed that the NBA got the wrong photo on the big screen at the draft.

Kris Murray laughed with reporters, letting them know it was indeed his picture. But then, the Iowa junior poked fun at his brother, saying the league chose the better-looking twin.

“Yeah, Keegan was mad cause, like, when he walked out with my parents, they had a picture of me up there,” Murray told Hawk Central on Tuesday.

“I knew it right away and there’s a whole video of it. And then when he got announced for his pick, same picture of me up there. I guess they just picked the better-looking twin.”

Furthermore, on the Kings’ show “The Run,” Murray also confirmed that it was indeed his brother. During the drive around Sacramento, a billboard welcomed the forward to the city, leading him to say to general manager Monte McNair and head coach Mike Brown, “at least they didn’t put Kris up there.”

The incident definitely will have the Kings and league offices double-checking to ensure they have the correct twin going forward.
