NBA DFS Picks: Fantasy Basketball Building Blocks Today | Wednesday, April 6

Yahoo Play of the Day — Luka Doncic: Dallas Mavericks at Detroit Pistons

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 55.15 | DraftKings: 59.37

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 27.8% | FanDuel 36.5% | DraftKings 21.6%

  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $55 | FanDuel $11,200 | DraftKings $12,000

Tonight Luka Doncic is the cream of the superstar crop, boasting the highest median fantasy point projection across the DFS sites. Dallas is currently holding the fourth-best record in the Western Conference, sitting once one game behind Golden State, two games ahead of Utah and 2.5 games up on Denver. Tonight the Mavericks are 6-point road favorites going into Detroit, but as we saw last night with the Nuggets, being a favorite does not guarantee victory.

Across his last four games, Doncic is averaging 35.7 minutes, 34.3 points, nine rebounds, 11.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks. Over their last five games, the Pistons are allowing 111.4 points per 100 possessions, which is in the middle of the pack. The Mavericks are projected to score 114.3 points tonight, which is nearly 7 more than their season average.

Trae Young: Atlanta Hawks vs. Washington Wizards

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 49.18 | DraftKings: 52.79

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 27% | FanDuel 26.5% | DraftKings 21.6%

  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $46 | FanDuel $10,400 | DraftKings $10,500

This is a back-to-back game for the Hawks, who fell in Toronto last night 118-108 to the Raptors. Trae Young played 37 minutes, though on the flipside, Atlanta had 48 hours off before these consecutive games. Washington also played last night, taking down the Timberwolves 132-114 in Minnesota. John Collins remains out, so Young will continue to be the driving force in the Atlanta offense. During his last dozen appearances, Young has averaged 35.4 minutes, 30.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 11 assists and 1.2 steals. Over their last 10 games, the Wizards are allowing 115.3 points per 100 possessions while playing at a slightly above-average pace.

Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers

It has been over a week since Phoenix locked up the best record in the NBA, so we should expect it to begin resting its key players in waves as they prepare for another deep postseason run. Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Mikael Bridges and Jae Crowder would be the likely candidates receiving time off. Depending on who is out, Cameron Payne, Cameron Johnson, Landry Shamet, JaVale McGee, Bismack Biyombo and Torrey Craig would potentially see increased minutes and opportunities.

The Clippers are in a similar position to Phoenix in that they are locked into their playoff slot. For Los Angeles, this means it will have two opportunities to win one play-in game to advance to the first round of the playoffs. Coach Tyronn Lue has been less than truthful with the playing time for his key personnel as Paul George has been working his way back into shape. It would not be a shock to see the core options receiving either limited minutes or resting for a game or two with just three tilts left in the season. This is a situation to monitor, as we could see several value options reveal themselves as the progresses.

If Nicolas Batum starts against the Suns, look to him in the NBA player prop market. Currently, he has a 6.5 over/under on his point prop, and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 8.6 points, which gives him a 65% probability of surpassing the over. Batum has tallied at least 8 points in four of his last five games.

Final Thoughts on NBA DFS picks for the Wednesday, April 6 Fantasy Basketball Slate

Tonight brings a staggered slate with the six games being assigned five different start times. Seven of the 12 teams in action are on the second leg of a back-to-back so be cognizant of any late-breaking news.
