Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj put the visitors in the driver’s seat late on Day 2 as he dismissed England’s best batter, Joe Root, after an intense series of events.
Root had settled in nicely but the constant rain interruptions meddled with his concentration. In the last stretch of the day’s play, Root came out with intentions to attack but it backfired.
Mohammed Shami bowled a few peaches and troubled the 31-year-old Root and Siraj finally reaped the rewards for the constant pressure. In an attempt to upper cut the ball, Root only managed an underedge.

There was not enough bounce for the shot and the ball took the bottom edge before flying into Rishabh Pant’s gloves. The youngster made no mistake and India got on top with England reeling at 78/4.
