The fifth-year big, in his second season with the Pistons, hurt his hand partway through the second quarter of the Pistons’ Jan. 2 loss at Portland.  Bagley got into post position in front of Blazers guard Keon Johnson and placed his right hand on Johnson’s side. When Johnson spun away, Bagley’s hand was bent at an awkward angle and he immediately yelped in pain. He continued grabbing toward his hand until the coaching staff subbed him out at the 6:57 mark.

Bagley missed the first 13 games of this season recovering from an MCL sprain. Since returning to action on Nov. 12, Bagley has averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 21.3 minutes a game for the Pistons.

In the first full game since Bagley’s most recent injury, Pistons head coach Dwane Casey relied on a mix of minutes from third-year big Isaiah Stewart and rookie center Jalen Duren, who starred against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Duren and Stewart both started against the Warriors, but had staggered time for three-fourths of the game.
