Marketa Vondrousova celebrates her Wimbledon success with supporters as the Czech star returns to Prague after snatching glory as the first unseeded player to win the women’s singles title at SW19
Marketa Vondrousova was greeted by masses of supporters as she returned to Prague for the first time since becoming Wimbledon women’s champion.
The 24-year-old stunned Ons Jabeur in the women’s final on centre court as one of the tournament’s unseeded picks lifted the iconic Grand Slam title.
Vondrousova celebrated her success in London as she became the first ever unseeded player to be crowned Wimbledon champion and has now returned to her home nation to showcase her achievement.
Heading for the country’s capital city, Prague, she posed for photos, signed autographs and attended a press conference with local and international media.
Supporters and well-wishers flocked to catch a glimpse of the new tennis star who scooped £2.35m in prize money on her way to a first career Grand Slam.

Dressed in a pink jacket and white vest, the women’s champion held the silver and gold Wimbledon plate up for photos and also posed while kissing the trophy.
Some lucky fans were able to get pictures with the world number 10 who happily obliged as she continues to discover her newfound star status.
One picture shows Vondrousova posing for a selfie while keeping her grip securely fastened on her Wimbledon title, while another shows two young children getting their image taken side-by-side.

Vondrousova later explained that she ‘had a good problem’ in being a target for other player’s on the circuit who would be looking to beat the newly-crowned champion.
Speaking at a press conference, she said: ‘This is a good problem to have. Of course it will be unpleasant that all will try to prove themselves and will play well, but that is part of the deal.
‘I won a Grand Slam so I have to count on that and learn to work with it.’
Vondrousova will now take time away from the media spotlight as she travels to her hometown of Sokolov before resuming playing at a competition in American next month.
