Cuban denies ‘Shark Tank’ contestants because of Warriors logo originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

You can’t be a multi-billionaire without being just a little bit petty, and Mark Cuban is exactly that.

On a recent episode of “Shark Tank,” the businessman and Dallas Mavericks owner turned down two entrepreneurs on the show because a sample of their product featured a Warriors logo, the exact team that beat Cuban’s Mavs in the Western Conference Finals last season.

“Dumbest marketing move ever, I’m out” Cuban said after being presented with a sample of the product. “Seriously, you gotta read the room. Wrong move, wrong time.”

The rest of the Sharks were very confused why Cuban turned them down so quickly. He explained that the air freshener product the two were pitching featured a Warriors logo.

“What do you think? The one air freshener from the NBA is the team that beats us in the NBA Conference Finals,” Cuban explained. “You gotta know that could backfire.”

One of the other Sharks, Barbara Corcoran, told Cuban that he’s a bigger man than to let a silly team logo impact his decision.

“Yeah I could be, but I’m not,” Cuban said bluntly.

Hey, at least he’s honest.

In a way, Cuban might have a point. Any contestant coming on the show should know their audience well enough if they’re looking to successfully pitch their product to the Sharks. That’s Business 101. Whether it be due to a lack of research or just a pure coincidence, the two entrepreneurs were denied in record time.
