‘At the end of this season I will be ready’: Dutch star Cody Gakpo insists he is happy to stay at PSV in January – and wait until next summer for a move to Man United or the Premier League
Cody Gakpo has revealed he is not looking at a transfer to Manchester United or the Premier League until next summer.
The Dutch winger, currently at PSV, is wanted by Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils and has also been linked to Spanish giants Champions League holders Real Madrid, Leeds and Southampton.
But Gakpo, 22, told NOS that he will feel ‘more ready’ to move at the end of the season rather than in the January transfer window.

United boss Erik ten Hag will now be unlikely to sign the 22-year-old in the January window
He said: ‘I think at the end of this season I will be ready to take that step.
‘I feel like I was already that way at the beginning of this season, but after this season I’m even more ready to take the next step.’
When asked about his dream club, he insisted it was his boyhood and current side PSV, before going on to name Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool when asked about top clubs he could join.
Gakpo, who has 13 goals in 23 games this season, was named in Holland’s World Cup squad
He concluded: ‘It would be an honour to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team I can best achieve my goals.’
The skilful winger is considered one of the most promising talents in Europe, with 55 goals in 158 games in all competitions for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, including 13 in 23 this season.
Gakpo was named in Louis van Gaal’s Holland squad for the Qatar World Cup and will likely be a key part of the Oranje team at the tournament starting later this month.
