Swedish golfer Linn Grant has accidentally hit a spectator on the head with her golf ball at the AIG Women’s Open, according to reports.
The 24-year-old had just started her final round at Walton Heath teeing off on the par-4 first hole, playing her opening tee shot down the right-hand side of the fairway.
Grant subsequently hit an approach shot with her seven iron that went wide and unintentionally struck the spectator in the head.
Aftonbladet reports that the gentleman, who was stood in the crowd at the time, started to ‘bleed profusely’ while paramedics were called to the scene before they wrapped the man’s head in bandages.
Other patrons were pictured gathering around the spectator, who was reportedly ‘helped to his feet after about ten minutes and driven away in a golf cart.’

The gentleman was given medical attention on the scene, with Grant stopping to make sure he was OK
Grant stopped to see how the gentleman was doing before she had to continue and play the remainder of the hole.
The Swedish outlet states that the man ‘gave a thumbs up’ as he was driven away and also spoke with the spectator’s son.
Speaking about his father, he said to Aftonbladet: ‘He seems to be okay, but now we just hope that it goes well.’
Grant came into the final round of the tournament having climbed up to sixth in the leaderboard on Saturday night.

She started the tournament carding a one-over par round of 73 on Thursday, before finishing up on Friday with an impressive three-under 69.
The 24-year-old, who is currently 19th in the Rolex Ranking, went one better on Saturday, hitting six birdies and two birdies to put her within touching distance to stake a claim on the top of the leaderboard, with an impressive four-under 68 for her third round.
She went on to make par on the first hole of her final round, before posting a bogey on the second as well as bogeys on the fifth sixth and seventh holes.
Grant, who turned professional in 2021, claimed her first title on the LPGA Tour in July at the Dana Open.
At present, the Swedish golfer currently sits T15 in the leaderboard at -1 and is currently 12 shots off the leader, Lilia Vu, who holds the solo lead at 13-under par.
