Sunday night was another frustrating one for the Los Angeles Lakers, as they lost another down-to-the-wire game, this time to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The contest was hard fought throughout, and James played brilliantly, as he scored 35 points on 15-of-23 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and 10 assists.

But in the end, the ball wasn’t in his hands to decide who would emerge victorious. Instead, Russell Westbrook took the final shot, which was blocked by Sixers forward Georges Niang.

Still, James notched yet another statistical milestone, as he became only the second NBA player and first non-center to reach 38,000 career points.

He still trails legendary Lakers big man Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has 38,387 points, on the all-time scoring list.

James has been playing some remarkable basketball since the start of December by putting up 31.6 points on 53.4 percent shooting during that span. If he maintains anything close to that type of pace, he will likely surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record by the end of February.
