Rafael Leao Milan prayer

Rafael Leao took to social media to protest the winning Atalanta penalty that eliminated Milan from the Coppa Italia, while Marten de Roon also had his say on the match.

The quarter-final ended 2-1 to La Dea thanks to a Teun Koopmeiners brace after the initial Leao opening goal.

The decisive moment saw Koopmeiners convert a penalty, which was awarded despite replays suggesting Alex Jimenez got the ball first and only made contact with Aleksei Miranchuk when the midfielder was already going down.

Refereeing experts on Mediaset, Sky Sport Italia and more all agreed it was not a penalty, so Leao reposted several clips on social media asking how it was not over-ruled by VAR.

Milan also had more timid appeals for a potential Emil Holm handling offence with the last kick of the game, but the arm seemed to be in more of a natural position.

However, Atalanta were also probably denied a penalty in the first half when Tijjani Reijnders appeared to push De Roon into Matteo Gabbia.

That heavy collision forced both players to leave the pitch before half-time and De Roon joked about his recent record.
