Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Larry Joe Bird is considered one of the greatest to play the game (never mind for the Celtics) because of how clutch a player he was. He was seemingly able to get almost any shot he wanted whether it was 30 seconds after the tip or with as much time left on the clock in the game’s fourth quarter.
Infamous for ripping the heart out of opposing teams in key moments late in the game, the Hick From French Lick made a career out of his ability to live up to the moment with elite shot-making, passing, rebounding and defense.
The three-time NBA champion may not be in fashion for fans of the league to include him among the greatest players of all time of late, but a review of how lethal Larry Legend was in crunch time could go a long way to changing many a younger mind.
