Ilkay Gündogan’s stoppage-time penalty earned Barcelona a 2-1 comeback win at Las Palmas in an ill-tempered La Liga match on Thursday.

Las Palmas opened the scoring in the 12th minute when the former Barcelona midfielder Sandro Ramírez set up the former Barça forward Munir El Haddadi to fire home from close range and the hosts dominated the first half.

Barcelona struck back 10 minutes after the break following a defensive error that allowed Sergi Roberto to find Ferran Torres who beat Álvaro Valles with a scruffy finish. The Las Palmas defender Daley Sinkgraven was shown a red card after a push on Gündoğan in added time and the former Manchester City midfielder converted his spot-kick.

Barcelona moved to third in the La Liga table on 41 points, seven behind the leaders Real Madrid and Girona.

Elsewhere in La Liga, Athletic Bilbao won 2-0 at Sevilla thanks to goals in each half from Mikel Vesga and Aitor Paredes to leapfrog Atlético in fourth.

Osasuna beat Almería 1-0 thanks to a 27th-minute goal from Ante Budimir.
