In need of help up front with Mitchell Robinson out for at least two months, the Knicks have signed Taj Gibson to a one-year deal, his agent told SNY’s Ian Begley.

Gibson, a favorite of head coach Tom Thibodeau, played for the Knicks from 2019 to 2022.

He played for the Wizards last season.

With Robinson out, Jericho Sims has assumed the starting center role with Isaiah Hartenstein continuing to come off the bench.

Gibson, 38, made his NBA debut with the Bulls during the 2009-10 season and has also played with the Thunder and Timberwolves during his career. He overlapped with Thibodeau for five seasons in Chicago, two in Minnesota and two in New York.

He made two starts and 49 appearances with Washington, averaging just 9.8 minutes as a veteran presence on a young team.
