Report: Kings eyeing ex-Warriors, Lakers guard Quinn Cook originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Kings have a young core under newly appointed coach Mike Brown. Of the group Sacramento hopes to build around, center Domantas Sabonis, who arrived at the NBA trade deadline this past season, is the oldest at 26 years old.

As a result, providing the squad with veteran leaders with playoff and championship experience to support their young core is critical. The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson reported on Saturday that the Kings are looking at adding point Quinn Cook.

Cook is familiar with the organization, having spent the entire 2021-22 season with their NBA G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. Sacramento is eyeing a third point guard behind De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell, with the 29-year-old filling the veteran role behind the two young stars.

Furthermore, Cook has championship experience during his time with the Warriors from 2017-19 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. The Kings could benefit from a veteran guard with a ring to be the voice telling their core what it takes to consistently win.

Cook has 188 career games under his belt, averaging 6.4 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.7 rebounds per contest with a 40.8 career 3-point percentage.

Anderson also reported that along with Cook, Sacramento was hoping to hold a workout for former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova during their time in Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League. However, that didn’t occur for either of the two players.

Brown is familiar with Dellavedova, who he coached in Cleveland during the 2013-14 season. The 31-year-old also has championship experience winning with LeBron James and the Cavaliers in 2016.

Dellavedova has averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 447 career games while posting a career 36.4 3-point percentage on 2.5 attempts from deep per game.
