Kendra Randle, the wife of New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, defended the actions of her husband after a former NBA player criticized how the two celebrated a win during the NBA playoffs.

After the Knicks’ Game 5 win over the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Randle found his wife and shared a kiss as New York extended the playoff series before losing in Miami in Game 6. Following the Knicks’ playoff elimination, former NBA forward Kenyon Martin appeared on former guard Gilbert Arenas’ show “Gil’s Arena” to voice his displeasure with how Randle celebrated the win with his wife over his teammates.

What did Kenyon Martin say about Julius Randle?

Martin said what he saw bothered him because the first thing Randle did was kiss his wife after “playing a hard fought game in a playoff series.”

“That’s the first thing you do? Where is your mindset at? I mean, it was the very first thing he did,” Martin said.

Martin added that he watched the game with his wife and told her he loves her “to death” but wouldn’t do what Randle did in the same situation.

“I am going to be with my guys. We just got done winning, I’m not even thinking about you,” Martin said.

Kendra Randle responds

Kendra Randle responded to the story on social media, calling it a slow news day.

“Both of us grew up in single parent homes. We never saw our dads respect our mothers. I’m so grateful my kids get to grow up watching their dad be the best father and husband,” she tweeted.

“By the way that game was after a win. He would never be in the mood to kiss or even talk after a loss lol. But talk about real issues. Not a husband and father loving his family,” she added in a subsequent tweet.
