- Katie Boulter suffered elimination at the hands of Qinwen Zheng 6-3, 6-3
- British No 1 Boulter saved five match points in the second but it was to no avail
- Jack Draper was downed 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 by American Tommy Paul
Katie Boulter and Jack Draper have crashed out of the Australian Open within minutes of each other in a double hammer blow for the Brits.
British No 1 Boulter, who could have set up an all-British encounter with Emma Raducanu if they were both successful, was downed 6-3, 6-3 by Chinese opponent Qinwen Zheng.
It looked as though Boulter, who has enjoyed plenty of support from the Australian public due to her high profile relationship with Alex de Minaur, might have rescued the second set.
She saved five match points but could not quite earn the break back that she needed before being defeated on an ace by Zheng.
Her defeat means Raducanu is the last woman standing for the Brits and she takes on Wang Yafan.
