Myers, Warriors believe JP’s work ethic shows contract worth originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
The Warriors agreed to a four-year, $140 million contract with Jordan Poole because they see the 23-year-old’s potential to take his game to another level.
Poole extending his tenure in the Bay Area shows that the former Michigan product is a building block for the Warriors to prolong their NBA championship window.
Additionally, Warriors general manager Bob Myers revealed the aspect of Poole’s game that gives the organization a sense of comfort in handing the guard a long-term contract.
“If you like analytics, he checks out in a lot of ways,” Myers told reporters on Sunday. “If you don’t, that’s fine too. He’s got a good youth on his side.
“I think the thing that gives us the most encouragement, to be honest is his work ethic and how much he likes to work and he loves to play. And many of people think that those are things that are automatic in the NBA and they’re actually not. I don’t think everybody loves to work, but he does. He’s proven that.”

Over the last three NBA seasons, Poole has seen an increase in the points department, so it’s not crazy to believe he cannot continue this growth.
During the 2021-22 campaign, Poole averaged 18.5 points per game, and now the next step for him will be to cross the 20-point mark and become an NBA All-Star.
