Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green capped off a historic month of March on Wednesday with his fourth 30-point game of the season in a narrow loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Green tied a career-high with 32 points, two rebounds and two assists in the 121-118 loss. He shot 11-of-25 from the field, including 6-of-14 from 3-point range, in 37 minutes of work. He leads the rookie class in 30-point games this season, two more than Cade Cunningham in second place.

The second pick set the NBA record by a rookie for most 3-pointers in a single month with his first make of the night, surpassing the previous record of 44 by Anthony Edwards in April 2021. He finished the month with 50 total 3-pointers.

Green also became the first rookie to make five 3s in four straight games.

The 20-year-old looks to be closing out the season on a high note. With the performance on Wednesday, Green became the first Rockets rookie since Hakeem Olajuwon to score 30 points in consecutive games.

Rockets teammate Kevin Porter Jr. is glad to see Green performing well.

It is dope. He is so talented and he is young. He is a baby. That’s my little brother. It is great to see him succeed because it is hard to succeed in this league. This is my third year, everyone knows what I’ve been through in this league so it is hard. He has taken it full-blown to the chin and is getting better and better each and every game. I just want him to keep going up.

Green entered the season highly touted as a scorer, and the guard has shown that throughout the year. He likely won’t be a serious contender for Rookie of the Year, but the first-year standout appears poised to become a franchise cornerstone for years to come.
