Peter Crouch lived up to his reputation as one of social media’s wittiest residents with an amusing joke at his expenses.
It came after a group of hikers in Brazil made the headlines on Wednesday after managing to get a video of two creatures they claimed were aliens.
Footage of the elongated 10-foot-tall figures has gone viral on X – the platform formerly known as Twitter – and Instagram.
The mysterious figures stood on a hilltop on Ilha do Mel – a small island off the coast of the state of Parana, in Brazil’s south-east.

Both of them were moving their arms quickly but remained standing on the hilltop during the entire video, which has racked up over eight million views at the time of writing.
Unsurprisingly, Crouch saw the funny side of the puzzling sight.
‘We were on a family holiday pls respect our privacy at this time,’ he posted on X as he shared footage of the mysterious creatures.
And it did not take long for X users to point out the creatures in the footage bore some similarity to Crouch’s famous ‘robot-dance celebration’, which the 6ft 7 striker made famous during his career.
Meanwhile, UFO expert Nick Pope pushed back on eyewitness Sara Dalete’s claims she spotted aliens.
‘This story – and the reaction to it – is truly bizarre,’ he told Metro on January 9.
‘There’s no credible evidence that anything UFO or alien-related happened, or that this was anything other than the police responding to reports of youths fighting.’
And despite his amusing claim, Crouch was not in Brazil but in fact in London this week as he attended the snooker Masters at Alexandra Palace with former England teammate Joe Cole.
The former Premier League striker has become something of a regular at the north London venue, where he was spotted in the crowd during the World Darts Championship last month.
The former England, Tottenham and Portsmouth striker was seen taking photos with fans and dancing, before being egged on by the crowd to finish his drink.
