Soon after the Bangladesh ODI series, Ishan Kishan returned to India and opted to play in the Ranji Trophy. He was named in Jharkhand’s first game of the season against Kerala. It was his first First-class match after more than a year. Kerala batted first and scored 475 runs in the first innings.
Jharkhand didn’t get off to a good start as they lost four wickets for 114 runs. Ishan Kishan walked in at this moment and continued from where he left off after his brilliant double century in Chattogram, Bangladesh. He went on to play a crucial knock, smashing a century off 166 balls.

However he couldn’t convert his century to a big one as he got out after scoring 132 off 195 balls. His knock comprised 9 fours and 8 sixes. Performances like these augurs well for the lad from Jharkhand. He is now the prime candidate for the openers slot in ODIs during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
- Ishan Kishan was originally not even part of India’s playing XI in ODIs but he has now thrown himself up in the mix.
- An injury to skipper Rohit Sharma gave him an opportunity in the playing XI against Bangladesh in the final ODI of the recently concluded ODI series.
- He grabbed the opportunity with both hands smashing a swashbuckling double-century opening the innings.
- With the kncom he became the fourth Indian to score an ODI double hundred.
- He was also the youngest player in the World to score an ODI doubles ton and was also the quickest to reach the magical figures.
The upcoming limited overs series against Sri Lanka is all set to begin from 3rd January 2023. The series will begin with three T20I matches and then the three-match ODI series will kickstart on 10th January Barsapara Stadium, Cuttack.
