IND vs BAN: Although a brilliant double century by Ishan Kishan helped team India win by a big margin of 227 runs at Chattogram, it was yet another forgettable display of cricket by the “Men in Blue” in the White-ball format after taking a harsh beating from hosts Bangladesh in the ODI series.
Team India will now wrap up the current tour with a two-match Test series beginning December 14, with the first Test match taking place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in Chattogram. This follows the Asia Cup, the T20 World Cup disaster, and now a loss against the lower-ranked Bangladesh in a 50-over series.
IND vs BAN: Squads: India’s injury problems are still going strong, thus the team will play without pacer Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who were both originally picked for the squad. Shami is rehabilitating from a shoulder issue, while Jadeja has yet to fully recover from knee surgery.
In Jadeja’s absence, left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh has been picked to the squad and could very well play his first Test in the upcoming series. To replace Shami, Navdeep Saini and most recently Jaydev Unadkat have been added to the roster. KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in place of Rohit during the opening Test.
In contrast, Bangladesh have named a 17-man squad for the series, with experienced all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan serving as the team’s captain. Left-handed wicketkeeper batter Zakir Hasan has received his first call-up for a Test match after putting out persistent efforts in First-Class Cricket.
