At the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, the Boston Celtics found themselves reeling from the yearlong suspension of their head coach Ime Udoka, waiting for their starting center Robert Williams III to return from arthroscopic surgery, and facing a regular season without newly-signed veteran forward Danilo Gallinari.
Fast forward a little over a month, and somehow the Celtics are not only thriving but in pole position as the NBA’s top team in terms of record. Driven by a historic offense put together by Mazzulla’s coaching staff and the players, Boston is now feared around the league and looking every bit the contender some worried they might not be at the start of the season.
