Atlanta Hawks rookie AJ Griffin is considered to be day-to-day in the Las Vegas Summer League with right foot discomfort, the team announced on Tuesday.

Griffin, the 16th pick last month, has not played with the Hawks in each of their three games in Las Vegas due to the injury. The team has held him out of action as a precaution and would still like to see him play at some point over its final two games.

According to Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Griffin started experiencing the soreness prior to practice last week and did not injure it on any one play. The Hawks will continue to monitor him over the remainder of the week.

Griffin, who was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and one assist on 44.7% shooting from 3-point range last season at Duke. He ranked fifth in program history in 3-point percentage and second among freshmen.

The Hawks were excited to add Griffin to the roster as a player that can space the floor and defend. They want to try to get him some run with the team but will not rush him into action.

Atlanta returns to play on Thursday at 3 p.m. EDT
