Harvey Elliott channelled popular anime television show Dragon Ball Z as he celebrated Liverpool’s injury-time winner against Crystal Palace.
The England U21 international was introduced as a 75th minute substitute at Selhurst Park, with the Reds trailing 1-0 to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s second half penalty.
However, the game turned on it’s head after Jordan Ayew was shown a second yellow card after a foul on Elliott, and minutes later Mohamed Salah scored to draw Liverpool level.
That set the scene for Elliott to then play his part in the victory, as he curled in a 91st minute winner from 30 yards to send Jurgen Klopp”s team to the top of the Premier League table.
The pivotal moment needed a special celebration, and Elliott took inspiration from Japanese TV series and brand Dragon Ball Z.

Dragonball Z is a Japanese anime cartoon series that was first introduced in the 1990s
The 20-year-old could be seen moving himself away from celebrations with his teammates and then pretend to make a ball shape with his hands.
The midfielder then shook his pretend ball and pushed his hands outwards towards the crowd to signify the well known ‘power ball’ from the animated series.
Dragon Ball Z was launched in Japan during the late 1980s as a follow up to the original Japanese show.
It has since become a worldwide phenomenon, with the series being shown in 81 different countries and is currently shown on Cartoon Network in the UK.

Elliott’s goal saw Liverpool leapfrog Arsenal to go top of the Premier League table and means they have now won 18 points from losing positions so far this season.
After the game, Klopp hailed his match winner and the impact the subsitues had in turning around Liverpool’s fortunes.
‘And you saw today, subs can make a massive difference. ‘ The German boss said.
‘It’s actually their job. Harvey played a wonderful game and scored a wonderful goal, I’m so happy for him. Curtis came on, really strong, Joe Gomez, oh my god. Cody and I’ve forgotten who else we brought on, so we changed system and it all worked out.’
Arsenal have the chance to regain top spot as they take on Aston Villa in the evening kick-off at Villa Park, before Liverpool entertain rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League game.
