Whenever a player returns to a place where they spent plenty of time and where he made an impact, there are bound to be some emotions as they see familiar faces in a familiar place.
On Friday, Philadelphia 76ers guard De’Anthony Melton makes his return to Memphis where he spent three seasons with the Grizzlies and helped them make the playoffs in 2021 and 2022. He averaged 9.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 185 games for the Grizzlies and he clearly made an impact there.
The Sixers acquired the veteran out of USC back in June in a draft night deal that sent Danny Green to Memphis. In his return on Friday, the Grizzlies posted a welcome back video tribute to Melton which featured Memphis players complimenting him as well as his own highlights.
