Greg Norman was spotted wearing a LIV Golf cap at Wimbledon on Monday as he re-emerges from the shadows following the rebel tour’s remarkable merger with the sport’s old order.

Norman was the controversial face behind the breakaway but the Australian has been conspicous by his absence since golf’s civil war came to an end when the PGA and DP World Tour joined forces with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Norman last week made his first public appearance since the news, joining PIF governor Yasir al-Rumayyan at the recent LIV event in Spain.

The much-criticised tour returns to Centurion Club this week, a year on from its launch at the course outside London.

He was wearing a LIV-branded baseball cap but was not on the list of invitees for the Royal Box on Centre Court.

His appearance comes amid uncertainty over his role and the future of LIV Golf. Six-time major winner Nick Faldo recently suggested LIV would ‘fade away simply because there was not a lot of interest.’

‘Nobody’s really interested,’ Faldo said. ‘They’re not going to get the sponsorship that they want.’

Faldo also took aim at LIV’s team structure, claiming it is a poor imitation of the Ryder Cup.

‘You see your mates on the putting green and say, “play well”,’ Faldo added.

‘Then you see them in the scorers’ tent and say, “What did you shoot?” That’s it. A team is out there helping, shoulder to shoulder. That’s a true team.’

‘You have the ultimate team event, the Ryder Cup, with the passion and the atmosphere,’ he said. ‘They’re not playing with the same passion and atmosphere as the Ryder Cup.’
