Boston Celtics restricted free agent forward Grant Williams spoke at a Fanatics event on Tuesday evening. There, the Tennessee alum called the Celtics trading away veteran point guard Marcus Smart to land Washington Wizards star big man Kristaps Porzingis in a three-team deal before the 2023 NBA draft difficult to handle, given how long he spent with Smart as the heart and soul of Boston’s team.

Williams also previewed the finer details of his imminent free agency kicking off this Friday, June 30th at 6 pm ET and said he hopes to remain with the ball club that drafted him into the league despite how difficult that is in the league’s new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
