Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams worked his way into Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry’s celebration at Davidson College on Wednesday.

Curry was on stage at his alma mater to receive his college degree, be inducted into the Davidson Hall of Fame, and become the first person to have his number retired at the school. That’s when Williams stole the show with his surprise appearance in Davidson’s tribute video.

“What’s up, brother. First off I wanted to say congratulations. It’s a huge accomplishment, it’s a blessing,” Williams said in the video. “I wore 30 in high school because of you, and now I didn’t win a ring because of you.”

Curry and the Warriors defeated Williams and the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals. Since then, they have exchanged playful jabs about the six-game series, including Curry calling out Williams during the ESPYs.

“It’s great to see you again, my man,” Curry said to Williams in the audience while wearing a green suit. “I know you like this color. I’ll let you borrow it after I’m done. I might even let you wear a ring.”

While Williams would prefer to be the one dishing out the trash talk, it’s clear he’s taking it all in stride. With the C’s and Warriors both entering the 2022-23 season as favorites in their respective conferences, perhaps he’ll get his shot at redemption.
