After weeks of waiting for his invite to this year’s Masters, PGA golfer Scott Stallings received a welcome message on Twitter this week from none other than Scott Stallings.

Due to some understandable confusion, the professional golfer’s invite was delivered to an amateur golfer bearing the same name.

‘Hi Scott,’ read a direct message sent to the PGA Tour member. ‘My name is Scott Stallings as well and I’m from GA. My wife’s name is Jennifer too!!

‘I received a FedEx today from the Masters inviting me to play in the Master’s (sic) Tournament April 6-9, 2023. I am [100 percent] sure this is NOT for me. I play but wow! No where (sic) near your level.’

As it turns out, the Masters invitation was delivered to the amateur Scott Stallings’ condominium, but he figured out fairly quickly that it wasn’t intended for him.

‘I play, but wow!’ the direct message read. ‘Nowhere near your level. It’s a very nice package complete with everything needed to attend. I think we have some confusion because of our names, our wife’s names and geographical location. I can be reached at [redacted] and I am more than happy to send this package to you.’

The ‘other’ Scott Stallings ended his message with: ‘I’m really not kidding, I promise.’

The story has been confirmed by Stallings’ agent on GolfChannel.com, not to mention Stallings’ own Twitter account.

‘Literally had been checking the mailbox five times a day and then I got this random DM yesterday,’ Stallings, the Tour pro, tweeted Monday.

Stallings is a three-time tour winner, finishing first at the Greenbrier Classic in 2011, the True South Classic in 2012, and the Farmers Insurance Open in 2014. He’s finished as high as 27th at Augusta National.

Like many pros, Stallings has been accompanied by his family during Augusta’s Par 3 Tournament, which is a light-hearted event preceding the Masters. Stallings’ young children, Finn and Millie, were seen dressed as caddies back in 2014, much to the delight of the adoring crowd.

The 87th edition of the Masters will take place at Augusta National from April 6 to April 9, where at least one golfer named Scott Stallings will presumably be competing.
