Gaël Monfils became the oldest winner to win on the ATP tour since Roger Federer after winning the Stockholm Open. The former world number six beat Adrian Mannarino and Laslo Djere en route to the final, where he beat Pavel Kotov to clinch the title. The Frenchman made history by joining a select group of individuals aged 37 or older who have won on the tour since 1990. The group includes Roger Federer, who last won in Basel in 2019, aged 38, Ivo Karlović and Feliciano López. The 37-year-old’s win in Sweden was the 12th of his career and the first in 18 months. Expressing his gratitude for those around him he said: ‘Special week for me with three ladies. My mom, thank you. As always, it’s nice to win a title in front of her. My wife, Elina. Thank you. My daughter Skaï who’s watching in front of the TV. It’s my first time as a father I’ve won a tournament. It’s very special.’
