Rahm has painted an irate figure throughout the early proceedings at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club after taking issue with photographers and camera crews at the event.

And the Masters champion’s mood has barely waivered after he was seen in a furious state after missing a putt on Hole 10 on Friday.

Microphones picked up Rahm’s reaction to missing the shot, to which he shouted: ‘F***!’. The video later appeared on Twitter.

The missed shot meant that Rahm failed to make par for the hole and cast him further adrift from the tournament’s front-runners.

Commentators swiftly apologised for the foul-mouthed comment which was caught on camera.

The incident saw Rahm’s week go from bad to worse, after the Spaniard’s frustrations with photographers boiled over during the first round.

The Masters champion lashed out after his opening 74, saying there were too many members of the media following his marquee grouping with Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose from inside the ropes.

He said: ‘I’m trying to walk and there’s way too many people in my way and I can’t go at my pace because they are in my way.

‘Then I’m walking off 18 trying to deal with that unlucky moment… there’s somebody with a boom mic on my ass keeping up with Rory’s pace… that’s kind of the disregard that I existed.’

While the boom incident is understood to have involved a Netflix crew, photographers and cameramen at Hoylake were sent a reminder by organisers on Friday of guidelines around where they are meant to be positioned.

Rahm, whose temper has been known to run hot on the course, previously snapped at camera crews at the US PGA Championship in May.
