Former Xavier University forward Jack Nunge has signed a professional contract to play overseas.

The 7-footer will begin his professional career with Lega Basket Serie A’s Givova Scafati after the club announced his signing on Friday.

“Jack was chosen for the complementarity of his characteristics compared to those of who were already on the staff in the department. His ability to play both front and shoulders to the basket gives him a double dimension. He is long inside/out with an important technical base. We strongly believe in his potential, and we are convinced he can do well,” Givova Scafati Sporting Director Nicola Egidio said in a press release of Nunge’s signing.

Nunge spent the first four seasons of his collegiate career at the University of Iowa, where he spent 61 games (19 starts) and averaged 6.1 points per game. Nunge transferred to Xavier prior to the 2021-22 season and averaged 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over two years with the Musketeers.

Nunge appeared in two games this week in the NBA Summer League with the Detroit Pistons. He started Detroit’s 94-90 win over the Toronto Raptors in Las Vegas on Wednesday, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and finishing with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Nunge started and played 12 minutes in the Pistons’ 79-73 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. He had seven points on 2-of-6 shooting, going 3-for-3 at the free-throw line, with three rebounds and a block.
