PGA Tour golfer Gary Woodland has posted footage of himself swinging a club for the first time since undergoing life-saving brain surgery in September.
On August 30, Woodland – the 2019 US Open champion – announced he would be having surgery to remove a lesion from his brain.
He revealed his condition had been diagnosed a few months earlier and that he had been trying to treat symptoms with medication.
But weeks later, another post revealed he had undergone ‘long surgery’ which had removed the majority of the tumor.
Now the 39-year-old is back on the driving range and posted some slow-motion footage on X of him beginning to swing a club again.

Alongside the video, Woodland wrote: ‘This journey has been very hard but I’m extremely thankful to be progressing and for the unconditional love and support from everyone.
‘You’ve all made this process a little easier for me and my family.
‘Thank you to everyone and I look forward seeing you all next year.’
Woodland posted only two top-10 finishes in 24 starts on the PGA Tour last season and missed the playoffs after coming 94th in the FedEx Cup standings.
He last teed it up at the Wyndham Championship in August, where he finished tied-27.

The biggest win of his career came in 2019 when Woodland held off Brooks Koepka to clinch his first and only major win at the US Open at Pebble Beach.
Woodland was a college basketball player at Washburn University, before transferring to the University of Kansas after his freshman year to play golf.
In 2017, Woodland and his wife Gabby were expecting twins but lost their daughter three months before their son Jaxson was born ten weeks premature, weighing three pounds.
The following year, Gabby suffered two miscarriages before the couple welcomed twins girls, Maddox and Lennox, in August 2019.
