After an uninspiring Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers, Myles Powell is headed abroad.

Powell averaged 1.2 points in 11 games as a two-way contractee with Philadelphia in 2021-22. He shot below 30% from the field and below 20% from the 3-point line.

According to independent NBA insider Marc Stein, Powell and Andrew Nicholson, who had several cups of coffee in the NBA, are taking their talents to the Bay Area Dragons:

In fairness to the Seton Hall product, there wasn’t an abundance of opportunity for him with the Sixers. But for a guy who made his name as a shooter and crafty scorer in college, Powell did not prove much in his limited opportunity.

Perhaps he’ll get another look in the NBA at some point, but physical limitations figure to inhibit him. In a league that currently salivates over multi-positional versatility, size, and athleticism, Powell is just 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds.

If he gets another chance to play domestically, Powell is going to need to do better than two-point and three-point splits of .364 and .167 to sell himself.

For now, though, Powell will have a chance to make some money, travel abroad, and play real minutes instead of observing his teammates from a bench in Philadelphia.
