The French National Team is a target for the rest of the national teams competing in this year’s Eurobasket play after France finished in the top three in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games held last year (delayed due to the pandemic, if you are wondering about the year), and former Boston Celtics shooting guard Evan Fournier knows it.

Seen as one of the deepest and toughest teams in the FIBA World Cup qualifier event currently taking place across Europe in various locations, the current New York Knicks wing admitted that France will be bulletin board material for their Eurobasket opponents because of their past success. “We have a target on our backs,” explained Fournier in a recent article by Eurohoops’ Johnny Askounis.

“We won the silver medals in last year’s Olympic Games, so (we) must display our strength,” he added.

The French National Team sports a 6-1 record ahead of Eurobasket play that could jump to 7-1 with a win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo Saturday, so if it is strength that Fournier wants his team to project, they certainly haven’t had much in the way of problems doing so thus far.
