Today I spent most of the day filming for the famous YouTube channel Sartorial Talks, in Borgogne, France. For those of you who do not know this channel, I highly suggest you take a look. It was created and run by Hugo Jacomet along with his lovely wife Sonya Glyn. Hugo and I are among the “dinosaurs” of the industry having both started in the blogosphere in 2009/2010 with our respective sites. Hugo was the creator of Parisian Gentleman, wrote several books on French/Italian style and then became world renowned with his show on YouTube Sartorial Talks and the French version Discussions Sartoriales.
Hugo and I have been friends for around 12 years now, having met during my early days in London, back when I was just shining shoes and writing the blog. He was always a great supporter of my story, my vision and did as much as he could to help me along the way. We used to see each other frequently when I lived in London as the world of menswear is actually quite small in Europe and would always find ourselves meeting at Pitti or in London and even in Paris. But when I moved back to the States our meets ups became less frequent to due the large pond thats separated us. Yet we always remained in contact and on occasion would see each other in NYC when Hugo had business there.
We had talked about coming on the show but as my international travel came to a complete hault with the pandemic I had not gone to one of my favorite cities, Paris, in nearly 6 years. Having been invited to the Swann Awards (more to come on that), I got in touch with Hugo to finally come to his region and make the show a reality. So, as I was coming a tacked on a trunk show at Mes Chaussettes Rouges and made a full trip of it!
Today, we knocked out 3 episodes back-to-back s there was lots to discuss and my trips to Farnce are far and few between. Do stay tuned for those coming out in the next month or so with 2-3 week intervals between them. We had a great time and it was good to see my friend and talk about the industry!
And for those of you that have missed my consistent marketing about it and are local to Paris, make sure to come see my trunk show Fri/Sat at Mes Chaussettes Rouges. See the flyer for details.
