Malcolm Brogdon reacts to being traded to Celtics originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

Malcolm Brogdon is ready to get to work with the Boston Celtics.

The 29-year-old point guard was acquired Friday in a trade that sent Aaron Nesmith, Daniel Theis, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, Juwan Morgan and a 2023 first-round draft pick to the Indiana Pacers. Shortly after the deal was reported, he shared his excitement in a conversation with ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.

“This Boston team is experienced and hungry to win a championship. I’m excited to be a part of the Boston family and compete for that championship,” Brogdon said.

Brogdon joins Marcus Smart, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard in a suddenly-deep Boston backcourt. It remains to be seen what the acquisition of Brogdon means for Smart’s status as the team’s starting point guard, but regardless, the longest-tenured Celtic is fired up about the acquisition of another talented playmaker.

Brogdon averaged 19.1 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 36 games last season. The biggest question for him will be health as he hasn’t played in more than 60 games in a season since 2018-19.
