ESPN analyst Tim Bontemps has been covering the Boston Celtics for some time now, and nows the team as well as anyone in the national NBA media. So when he weighed in as against a trade of Brooklyn Nets superstar forward Kevin Durant for Celtics star wing Jaylen Brown (and presumably much more in terms of players and draft assets) on a recent episode of the ESPN ‘Hoops Collective” podcast.
For Bontemps, having two young, two way wing players has been the most important currency a team can have in pursuit of an NBA title in today’s league, and Boston could have that for over a half decade if they can convince Brown to re-sign.
The age, injury history, and a number of other factors about Durant are also worth consideration for the ESPN analyst.
Watch out the clip embedded above to hear his take on why Boston ought to avoid a Durant for Brown swap.
