This offseason for the Chicago Bulls was focused on bringing back All-Star Zach LaVine, which was a success.
The Bulls also added some more depth to their bench, signing veterans Andre Drummond and Goran Dragic.
But, these moves, after falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in five games in the first-round of the playoffs, may leave Bulls fans wanting more, which ESPN’s Kevin Pelton spoke to in his NBA offseason grades.
Pelton gave the Bulls’ offseason a grade of C+, speaking to the ‘modest additions’ of Drummond and Dragic, but leaving more to be desired.
Kevin Pelton:
“In a vacuum, Chicago’s modest additions this offseason have made sense, but it leaves us wanting more…The moves should upgrade Chicago’s second unit, woefully short on quality size last season. Still, the Bulls haven’t fully addressed the weaknesses apparent in their second-half slide after a strong start.”
The glaring weakness for the Bulls last season came on the defensive end of the floor, which was drastically hindered by Chicago’s abundance of injuries as Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Patrick Williams all missed significant time during the season.
With a healthy roster, alongside these ‘modest additions’ to their depth, the Bulls should be in a better place come next season.
