World champions England confirm a white-ball tour of Bangladesh in March… but dates directly clash with Test series as Ben Stokes and Co take on New Zealand

  • World champions England will face Bangladesh in ODI and T20 series in March
  • Jos Buttler’s side will play matches in Dhaka and Chattogram during the tour
  • England will be returning to Bangladesh for the first time in seven years
  • The tour directly clashes with England’s Test series in New Zealand

Double world champions England will play limited-overs internationals in Bangladesh in March on a tour that directly clashes with a Test series in New Zealand.

The two boards confirmed an itinerary on Tuesday that will see Jos Buttler’s team begin a three-match one-day series in Dhaka on March 1, less than 24 hours after England’s second Test against New Zealand is scheduled to conclude.

It means England will once again have two teams on duty simultaneously in different parts of the globe, just as they did at the start of 2022 when a Twenty20 team landed in Barbados during the final Ashes Test.

England’s return to Bangladesh following a seven-year absence will see them play two ODIs in Dhaka, switch to Chattogram for the third 50-over match and opening contest of a three-game T20 series, before returning to Dhaka for the final two on March 12 and 14.

Warm-up matches will be held in late February but are yet to be announced.

‘There is a great passion for cricket across Bangladesh, and we expect a tough challenge against a side who have an excellent record in home conditions,’ said Clare Connor, the ECB’s interim chief executive.
