Read the comment from LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson that was so controversial it was CENSORED from the rebel tour’s records as he slammed the PGA

  • Johnson won teams event in Adelaide
  • Was blunt when asked about PGA Tour
  • Comments were deleted from transcript

Fierce LIV Golf advocate Dustin Johnson did not hold back on his opinion of PGA tour boss Jay Monaghan following the success of the Adelaide event – and his spray was so intense the rebel tour had it cut out of their official record.

Johnson, who resigned his PGA Tour membership last year to join the Saudi-funded breakaway competition, led his team the 4Aces to victory in the team division at LIV Golf Adelaide on Sunday.

In an interview following the tour’s debut in Australia, Johnson was asked how the PGA boss might feel about the success the Adelaide event enjoyed.

‘We don’t give a damn how he feels. We know how he feels about us, so it’s mutual,’ he fired back.

However, his comments were quickly removed from the official LIV transcript of the interview in an act that’s being seen as a small concession amid the ongoing tension between the rival associations.

Johnson, along with other LIV Golf players including Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, have previously downplayed the personal feuds between players and emphasised the importance of the LIV Tour’s continued success.

The Adelaide tournament was seen as a major victory for the tour, with players delivering impressive performances and the crowd turnout exceeding expectations.

Johnson’s victory at LIV Golf Adelaide adds to his growing list of accomplishments. The tournament drew nearly 100,000 spectators over three days, and the players were quick to praise the event’s organisation and fan support.

Asked about the fan support in Australia, Johnson’s tone cooled down significantly.

‘I thought this is what it would get to,’ Johnson said.

‘Hopefully we will continue this for more events because this was incredible.

‘The support we’ve had from the fans and the city … awesome.

‘Obviously the crowds were unbelievable this week so it was a lot of fun.’

Despite the obvious bad blood between Johnson and the PGA, the American remains optimistic he can add to his four Ryder Cups this year.

During an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, he confirmed his availability for selection even though it remains unclear whether LIV Golf players will be permitted to take part.

‘I would love to, absolutely. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed playing, and in the last Ryder Cup, I played pretty well. It’s one of my favorite events to play in. I’d love to [do it again]. If I play well for the rest of the year, hopefully, I’ll get consideration,’ he said.

Despite being a two-time major winner, Johnson is perhaps best known for his record-breaking performance at the 2021 Ryder Cup.

He became only the fifth player in the tournament’s history to win all five of his matches, helping the United States to a convincing 19-9 victory over Europe at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.

However, it has been widely speculated that LIV Golf defectors such as Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Brooks Koepka would not be selected for the showdown in September.

United States’ Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson said that no decision had been made yet, leaving the players in limbo.
