Dress Motorcycle Boots

Dress Motorcycle Boots are probably words you do not hear put together very often. The dressiest thing we probably associate with riding a motorcycle is seeing James Bond do it in a suit in the Daniel Craig versions. Outside of that, it is very much more relaxed, rugged, and casual activity that one is rarely ‘dressed up’ for. But that doesn’t mean that someone does not have the desire to be sharp and want to ride their bike.

Dress Motorcycle Boots

The idea came from one of my clients from my shoe brand, J.FitzPatrick Footwear. He called up and said that he wanted to make a motorcycle boot from our jodhpur style, the Genesee. He wanted to do so by implementing the leather strap that you often find in more rugged motorcycle boots that helps to protect from the constant need to engage the shift lever. To make it more practical he wanted to use a grain leather on the strap. It would be more appropriate for handling the metal contact of the lever. We then created the ‘Barbosa’ dress motorcycle boots.

I do not ride motorcycles and most likely never will. Yet, funny enough I have spent ample time on them though as my father was a rider and we used to drive from Seattle to Eastern Washington on one when I was a child. But my business partner is a rider and also funny enough wears his J.FitzPatrick jodhpurs for riding his throwback BMW. But as his boots do not have that strap, has done plenty of damage to his vamp/toe area.

While I do not ride, I still find the idea of the strap on the toe in leather matching the jodhpur straps, quite intriguing. It gives a nice boot a rugged vibe. And it could simply be worn casually. I would love to see other combinations of this boot made. And am hoping that it catches on so we can do so. Stay tuned!
