Former Celtic calls Draymond ‘a bully’ for punching Jordan Poole originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
The leaked TMZ video of Draymond Green violently punching Golden State Warriors teammate Jordan Poole was the talk of the NBA on Friday. It sparked plenty of reactions from current and former players, including former Boston Celtics guard Eddie House.
House was among those who denounced Green’s actions. The 2008 NBA champion didn’t mince words about the situation on Friday’s “Celtics Pregame Live” with Amina Smith and Brian Scalabrine.

“You get into it at practice. Scal can attest to this. We’ve all gotten into it,” House said. “We got into fights, I’ve seen fights, I’ve been involved in them. I’ve been on the winning end, I’ve been on the losing end. It doesn’t even matter about that. It’s just a matter of the fact that Draymond’s a bully. You know? He’s a bully.
“Jordan Poole is not like that and Draymond seems to find a way to always go at the guys that he knows aren’t really cut like that. I’m looking at it like this, he didn’t have to sock dude like that. He could’ve picked him up, scooped him and dipped him if he needed to. But at the same time, he’s all the way out of pocket. It ain’t cool. He has a track record of showing this type of behavior. It’s just not cool.”
According to ESPN, the Warriors are taking “every legal course of action” to discover how the video of the altercation was made public. House believes the team needs take significant disciplinary action on Green while they’re at it.
“The Warriors have to do something,” he added. “I’m not talking about a slap on the wrist. They have to do something to send the message and say this ain’t cool, we can’t allow this. Definitely with a young player that’s coming up, that’s trying to emerge to being a star player. You can’t have him being like I don’t want to sign here because dude is over here.”
Prior to the video being released, Warriors GM Bob Myers seemed to indicate Green would not be suspended for his actions.
Green, a 10-year veteran and four-time NBA champion, has a reputation as one of the league’s most aggressive and polarizing players. In Nov. 2018, he was suspended one game for an altercation with then-teammate Kevin Durant. This time though, it’s clear he took things way too far.
