Donald Trump left onlookers in fits of laughter when he was caught on camera shanking a golf ball well away from its intended target during a recent round.

In a clip uploaded to social media, and claimed to have been filmed this week, the former President can be seen lining up a shot just short of the green, flanked by six golf carts for his secret service personnel.

The clip is being filmed from afar by another player on the course at Trump National Golf Club in LA, and is captioned: ‘Ran into Trump… and he did this.’

The video proceeds to zoom in on the 77-year-old as he prepares to take his shot, grabbing a club from his bag and taking a practice swing to make sure he gets the ball exactly where he wants it.

‘Let’s see if he can hit the green,’ comes the call from the man filming the clip, before Trump goes ahead and takes his shot – with incredible results.

The ball can clearly be seen flying into a bush on the right-hand side of the hole, very far away from its intended target, leaving the former President looking perplexed.

‘Oh he shanked it, oh my god… I got that on video!’ comes the call from the onlooker, as he and his friends can be heard laughing at the shot.

The video is perhaps even more revealing given Trump’s regular brags about his impressive ability on the course, with the billionaire claiming to have a handicap of 2.8 – a hugely impressive score that would put him in the top five percent of players.

Books have even been written about his apparent lies on the golf course, with Rick Reilly’s ‘Commander In Cheat’ detailing some incredible tales about his time on the course.

In one particularly baffling story, the former President – who is running for a second term in the White House in 2024 – is said to have claimed he won the senior club championship at his Bedminster, New Jersey course – despite being in Pennsylvania on the day the tournament was played.

As Reilly explains: ‘He’d declared that the club should start having senior club championships for those 50 and up, but he forgot that one of the best players at the club had just turned 50.

‘Having zero chance of beating the guy, he went up to his Trump Philadelphia course on the day of the tournament and played with a friend there. Afterward, according to a source inside the Bedminster club, he called the Bedminster pro shop and announced he’d shot 73 and should be declared the winner.

In an interview with FOX Sports Radio, Trump also once claimed he had ‘shot low 70s, quite a bit’ around the notoriously difficult Winged Foot in New York, scores that would put him up there with some of the top professionals in the sport.

Another anecdote from Reilly’s book, about the very same golf club, claimed that caddies there refer to Trump as ‘Pele’ because he kicks the ball around the course.

The 77-year-old, who appears to be wearing his traditional red Make America Great Again red cap during the round, is preparing for another tilt at the presidency as he prepares to go head-to-head with Joe Biden next year.
