The Kings might have suffered a major setback during their 125-111 loss to the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
Late in the fourth quarter, NBA All-Star candidate Domantas Sabonis injured his right hand, forcing him to leave the game.
A day later, the Kings are learning about the severity of the ailment, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday, citing sources that X-rays after the game confirmed the injury.
Per Wojnarowski, Sabonis will undergo further testing and evaluation on treatment options. It’s unclear if or how long Sacramento will be without the big man. The timeline for a return, per Wojnarowki, could depend on pain tolerance or the need to address a potentially more serious injury.

Sabonis is averaging 17.9 points, a league-leading 12.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists through 31 games. He has registered double-doubles in 10 consecutive games.
As dominant as Sabonis has been this season, the Kings have struggled to find reliable minutes at back-up center. Richaun Holmes and Neemias Queta played sparingly against the Wizards on Friday, but they might be pressed into bigger roles if the two-time NBA All-Star misses time.
