MIAMI — The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves trailing the Miami Heat 1-0 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series following a Game 1 loss on Monday night. They have had to go to battle without the services of Joel Embiid who is out due to an orbital fracture and a concussion.

However, the Sixers do have some hope that Embiid can return to the team for Game 3 on Friday back in Philadelphia. He is definitely out for Game 2 on Wednesday, but coach Doc Rivers did offer a bit of encouraging news on Embiid’s status.

“I know he did something yesterday (Monday), but not much,” said Rivers. “I know he’s feeling a lot better. I don’t wanna give false hope either so I’ll just stop there.”

In the absence of Embiid, the Sixers will continue to turn to DeAndre Jordan in his place. He did not have a great outing in Game 1, but Philadelphia is hoping that he can give the team a bit of a boost before they welcome the big fella back to the lineup.
