The AC Milan striker also had interest from Burnley and Fulham today but is undergoing a medical with Forest.

Origi would be brought in as a replacement for Wales forward Brennan Johnson, who is edging closer to a move to Tottenham.

The Belgian became somewhat of a cult hero during his previous spell in England, so Steve Cooper will be looking to rely on his experience to keep Forest in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old won the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, scoring 41 goals and registering 18 assists in 175 appearances for the Reds.

Origi famously scored in the incredible 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final 2nd leg, with the strike recently being voted Liverpool’s greatest goal in its 130-year history by fans.

He joined Serie A side AC Milan on a free transfer last summer, but has failed to nail down a regular spot for the Italians.

The Belgian has a dismal two goals and one assist in 35 appearances for Milan but he will hope to revive his career under Steve Cooper.

Nottingham Forest have already been busy on deadline day, completing the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea and Nicolas Dominguez from Bologna.
